Barrier of 12

IM 2010
6 more moon to go

since i met Tuan Salman when i was junior most cadet in UPNM, he repeatedly remind me to take good care of the Team. the team is expanding, so do the IM gonna bes.

the list of UPNM IMs through out the year
2005- Arman Ariffin 14 hours plus
2006- Adib 13 hours plus
2007- Kojack 12 hours 45minutes, Lidum 13 hours 30 minutes, Salman 13 hours plus..
2008- Salman 12 hours 9minutes 34secs, Chan 13 hours 50minutes, Saiful and Amru 15 hours

2009- Chan 12 hours 6minutes, Farid 14 hours 50mins, Kipas 15 hours plus

2010- ???

lets look at the list, those are the record breaker of UPNM's IM record.
till when the improvement will keep going? will we be able to break record every year? WILL WE? 6 months left...
i told myself many many times during the 2nd IM, i have what it takes to be an IRONMAN.
then the next question popped up, do i have what it takes to break the 12 hours and 9 minutes barrier?

3 signs which almost kill my hope..
Race started at 7.45am

Langkawi sun sets at about 7.30pm
Azan at Langkawi is almost 7.40pm
The volunteers started giving out blinking lights to the night runners at 7.30pm

i didn't wear watch at that time, so i took the 3 signs very seriously as my time keeper. the final loop of the run, in order for me to break the 12 hours 9 minutes barrier, i need to avoid the 3 signs coz the race started at 7.45am, so i need to complete the race before the 3 signs appear to clock 12 hours.
i was at the verge of giving up all the goals and dream to break the record since the pain i endured throughout the long hours on the course told me to give it up. here comes Major Radzuan our officer in charge. he tried to keep me motivated to keep running, 4 more kms left at that time.

when he told me that his watch was 7.40pm...
it was like an injection of energy to body despite i already tax so much lactic acid in my body, i wonder where on earth the energy come from..
in IM, u'll need to believe in miracle, thousand and one thing could go wrong anywhere anytime...

and now, based on my 2 time IM experience, i know i might no longer have what it takes to keep the record breaking every consecutive year. after breaking the UPNM IM's record by barely 3 minutes, itz obvious that i almost didn't break it. the route of this year has gone much tougher than year before, but not a good excuse tho..

i made a very simple assumption..
according to CHAN's Law,
Performance = Nutrition + Training + Morale
neither one can fumble through out the process of improving performance.

i'm gonna start focusing on myself and try my very best to eliminate silly mistakes in racing, improve techniques, and give it all i have to not let the record stop improving during my years in UPNM. whether me or any of the team mates break the record, just hopefully i won't see the record stop and remain at the barrier 12.

when will the record stops? we'll never know. the seniors never thought the team will expand till this size, gaining so much attention from the senior management for excellence performance and getting support from the higher authority in almost every race. till today, we still survive.

may be not all the team mates have the same perspective as mine, but i respect their view. my aim is to bring a huge leap of performance in the team, share with them what i have in mind so that they need not to go the hard way.
Honestly, i doubt if i'm able to guide them. the patience in me somehow has gone, and i notice that this few months. the faith i have is slowly fading...
rather than i talk "nonsense" in the crowd of blind and deaf, and make them heart ache with my realistic statement, i prefer to just "let it be" and start with my own specific workout.

Barrier 12 will soon be realistic and haunt the team if none of them take action to give fullest punch to break the wall of 12.
GUYS... PLEASE WAKE UP! 6 more moons left.

Lab Report Metallography

Hardness Test

this few pictures took me almost a week to snap it.
heat treatment has been done to this few steel to test the hardness after heat treated. temperature of steel heated in the furnace is 850 degree Celsius, but the temperature dropped to 612 coz we're late for the Lab after attending the Prof Mahzom's parade.
first day went into the lab, start with the 3 steel and test the hardness. the other 3 steels are super time consuming, need to let it cool down la, keep in furnace la.. macam2 ar.. but the final result is kinda interesting. the grain size will affect the hardness of the steel. the microscopic view of heat treated steel.. hehehehe..

thanks to my team members..

WALL OF FAME

this is how i feel right now. with tonnes of formulas and understanding needed to understand the subject DYNAMIC.

why i always feel sleepy when some lecturer talk, once he/she stop talking then i'll be super fresh?

hmm here is my WALL of FAME in my room=) all the paper cutting and articles i collected since those days=)
