Team Elite

....
29th of December, one day after my birthday.. the tiny rain made me doubt if i should continue training. gonna be another Broga today, with Chief Kutu and the Geng. all gathered at the car park then cycle to the Junction. one guy had a flat tire then few of us stopped by the road side giving helping hand=) somehow coincident, those who stopped to help, all using DURA ACE CARBON 1380. hahaha...
CK plan to go nasi Lemak since Nurashid came down from Tekala telling us that heavy downpour awaiting us up there.
bumped into Mr Chan minutes later, so i joined them. didn't talk in the peloton coz i'm cycling with the Elites, Eugene and Jin Rong. takut kena marah plak. dah la ikut peloton orang.. up and down till K.Klawang..
on the way back to Perez, 30km climb.. the pack started to break, left 5 of us at the front. the higher the climb, the more cyclist dropped out of the group. lastly left me and Jin Rong keep on pedaling till the peak of perez. while keeping our cadence, we exchanged few words=) from there we got to know each other better. both of us reached the top much earlier than others. i reached perez few seconds earlier than Jin Rong. during the break, the unofficial ice breaking session btw me and the team.. the weather was very cold! when going downhill, i kept pedaling to keep my leg warm... orang yg kurang lemak cam aku ni memang cepat sejuk=p

with Mr Chan's team at Kuala Klawang...

Mr Chan told us to back off=p hahaha..

Perez ku sayang...

28 Dec 2008
in order for a cadet officer from UPNM Triathlon Team to be called a "legend"...
conquering Broga is a must! this is the 3rd Broga ride. the hills are killing, the first time i came here, i told myself there'll be no 2nd time. but still, i miss the route very much after 6 months plus i've been missing from the peloton. i finished it strong, average of 27.9km/h even though the hills made me 15km/h. i'm very happy to celebrate my birthday on top of Perez with Azwar, and OP Stupe. TSB, Kam, Upiq, Rafiq and the big boys sweep us from the back. i like Azwar's jersey very much.. the new Cobrawing also very nice=)his aero wheels even make him faster and more aero...

UPNM..
this few weeks i did my homework on reading others' blog. being a civilian, u can have ample time to train, but some of them might have financial problem to go races, or need car pooling. but in UPNM, transport not so troublesome since we have 3 tonner, we gotta squeeze our brain to do paperwork, and we need to follow the routine. so it is equal..
before buying bike stuff, i learned to study the "speed per ringgit"..
how much faster can i go if i spend this amount of money. an aero helmet can save up to 10 watts, but a time trial position can save 40 watt. change position only need an aero bar, but buying helmet might cost half a thousand. so u make the decision.
i've made mine..
i didn't buy helmet, neither time trial bike..
since 2005 when i was form 4, i involved in triathlon races.. not having a trisuit, i completed races with 5 ringgit thighs, 20 ringgit helmet, 100 ringgit bike.
all those stuff are cheaper than my giro indicator helmet!
NOW.. i bought 3 TRISUITS!!! haha some people might say i'm crazy..
2 Descente, and one pearl izumi.. the descente trisuit looks good, and the compression is just nice, very comfy. according to the suit's detail, it is aerodynamic and hydrodynamic.. how true it is, only result will proof..

Asean University Game 2008

3days of seminar, 3 cadets attended, over 7000 thousands athletes, hundreds of volunteers...

the talk by profs, dato's, and those big shots in world of sport science. they really think big, but never talk big.

Prof Lateef Oluwole Amusa : Towards a social philosophy of achievement in sports
The taste of sports is sometimes as a result of social positions and conditions. Thus we observe a great social diversity of sports interest, goods, and services.

Prof Dato' Dr Leonard Andrew de Vries
Moving Together ASEAN.

Assoc. Prof Gilda Uy
Students athletes.. but not cadets student athletes..

the topic they're talking about are deep and i never ever thought of things like that. sport industries, we can invest in sporting goods and so on. what in my brain is just race, training, sleep, recovery. that's all. hahaha so this seminar has become an eye opener to me. Prof Dato' Andrew said the Military focus on fitness for combat and not fitness for health. may be if he is in the military then he can understand better. combat is our core business, so combat fitness we must prioritize. for my level of sport science knowledge, i understand well the presentation by Dr Muhammad. VO2 max, sport performance and nutrition and trainings! thatz my favorite topic! but the presentation was kinda short=(
meal time, girls from UiTM approached me in a "nice" way.. teasing come first, then only ask for my name. i'm not the type who talk to girls easily, and normally i don't bother about them. most of the Uni students are Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar, only UPNM send athletes there. its more appropriate to send athletes as we feel and we're the one who will improve our own organization. some sport officers don't play sports, how are they gonna help the Organization since they don't understand? talking about understanding... an interesting research can be done regarding UPNM's athletes. we are Cadets, Students, and competitive athletes. although being competent in sports isn't important in UPNM, but approximately 10% of us are competing at international level. when back to the core, COMBAT fitness will be the number one. Chief Petty Officer Zul should be given the credit for his commitment in nurturing cadets who have basic sport science knowledge. so far, he is the ONLY instructor who implement knowledge in physical trainings. if.. and only if.. the instructors are as good as him, we can be fit and wise at the same time. navy have better and well organized structure of organization, so they produce very good instructor.
i met Dr Wardah, very friendly lady=) she was the one who did the prize giving in UM, thats why i can recognize her. she plan to buy bike, so i just share what i know with her. the whole world know Major Kalam. haha i spoke to her, she knows him too! who on earth doesn't know Major Kalam??? hehehe..
staying in equatorial hotel is some sort of recovery period for me. we ate good food, served with variety of juice, healthy dishes and macam2 la.. pampering myself with the scenery, sleep whenever i could, and eat whatever i can. now i'm back, ready for intensive training!!!

OPENed up my lap top, first thing...
facebook and friendster la.. mana ada benda lain lagi nak bukak.. haha..
the message from miss KAKI, very useful.. hehehe tambah kabel..
nak training, tapi hujan je slalu.. adoi...

Adi The Legend

Tuan Adi has been missing for ages.. now he's coming back!

"Tuan Adi, skarang ni dah ramai yang kayuh laju2.."
"Ko tunggu la aku kayuh.. baru ko tau apa itu hebat."

he is still the same old him, talk with extraordinary confidence. i'll take it as a challenge! just like what he did to me last year.. he said it is impossible for me to beat him in 90km bike for the half ironman. he told me that my body can't stand the IRONMAN's distance, and today i'm an Ironman, youngest malaysian qualified Ironman. sometimes excitement in life brings positive impact to us, our decision and perspective will maneuver us. Last year all of us frequently went out for long ride, but now we only train in UPNM. the financial support for this year's IM is very strong, but i dare not guarantee our performance will be as good as few years back. we're all lack of training, lack of recovery.. macam2 la..
Amirul, and Amad is superb duperb in doing paperwork. while i fully use my contacts to support them, make their job easier. it is convenient if we have loads of "cabels"... we do things faster and effective.
i'm grateful that Prof Mahzum support us till the max!!! i truly appreciate it and promise that i'll give my very best performance in IRONMAN like i always do.

i have the WILL and the ZEAL to become 2nd time IRONMAN.

Road to IRONMAN

Aero helmet...HOW AERO IT COSTS?=P
aerodynamic comes with a price, i like the shape of aero helmet. before Pedu Duathlon, i told myself that i gotta win in order to buy new helmet. but now that i won the race, i don't know what to buy... may be just buy some supplements to fill my stomach. i have problem with my swim nowadays, after 1km the headache will occur.. sigh.. i wonder how it happen.. i tested the swim without swimming cap, but still headache.

chasing the 3 ton truck indeed a good training for IRONMANs gonna be coz the max speed of the truck is just 80km/h. thats one of the reason why i missed my flight to Langkawi early this year. i'm not gonna make the same mistake again, i forgot to bring my military IC to the airport=p hahaha.. gunung jerai my next race! 40km cross country, how it feels huh? 10hours race? 4 man team, who will be my team mates?

next year's duathlon, hope to see Monica Torez again=p hahaha.. drafting the lady category's number one isn't embarrassing. its just like sis helping bro=p

will and zeal

triathlon is all about "will" and "zeal".. the Pedu International Duathlon taught me and my sparing partners a lot. this race also tested the effectiveness of our training program. now that new admin implement new routine, so we need to emphasize on the important part of multisport which is the run. Among 4 of us, Aiman cramp easily, Ahmad need more running program, Amirul is improving tremendously, while me nervous-ing day and night. in my opinion, the core of a duathlete or triathlete is WILL and ZEAL. why will? why Zeal?
will.. willing to suffer, dare to compete, take up challenge, be extraordinary..
zeal.. strong eagerness to achieve goal, enthusiastic, elan.

run bike run. 6km 36km 6km. that's what we did in Pedu. roads for cycling was bulky, wet but less wind. 1st run i was at the front pack but not the first pack. suddenly Eugene and Jin Rong approached from the back and start overtaking the others. both of them were fast, nice pace and wise plan. once i got into the transition area with Jin Rong, obviously his transition is way better than me. he got out in less than 1minute. while me this slow coach terhegeh-hegeh nak masukkan clip. ceh..
i really need to learn from him, his trisuit looks nice too.. wonder when will i have my own trisuit. i always dream of having my own trisuit, since form 4 i started this game, i never worn any trisuit. i wonder how it feels when putting in on.. in triathlon, not many people know me, but they know our jersey. 4 meaningful words, "UPNM" we promote it all over the country. at first i thought of wearing my Brooks vest, but Amirul's words was persuasive enough to change my mind. the outfit is not important, but the 4 words that counts. of course my Brooks vest is more comfy if compared to the elan cycling vest with UPNM on it, but the words propelled me to go further and faster. i want everyone to know I AM FROM UPNM!!! the bike was quite good, Monica Torez picked me up after few Kilo i started my bike. Eugene and Yeo Jin Rong already gone missing. Final run, i couldn't see Eugene at all. to me it is almost hopeless to chase after them. but i kept on striding, finally ahead of them 1 minute. me and Monica Torez sprinted till the finishing line, she was 1 secs ahead of me. strong lady she is. snapped pics with Steve, my very good friend..
back to UPNM at 5am, 6.30am we continued with Physical training..
tough life huh??
